Thinking About… GetGlue — 43 Comments

  2. You know how we’re always complaining that we don’t have Nielsen boxes and that our Live Watch of Fringe do not count? Here is a simple idea to help us get noticed and give a little thanks to the advertisers that support the show.
We know that networks have been scanning the impressions of social TV (whereby viewers are actively engaged in interactions or discussions in context of watching TV) . An article even correlates the probably of renewal of NEW shows to their “Social TV” rankings. On source has Fringe check-ins at #5 for all of 2011.

If you have a GetGlue acct, check-in to Fringe during live airing (and your episode Sticker) but here’s a thought:

When you see product placements (e.g. the Macs from Apple, the Nissan vehicles) in the show and during the commercial, check-in to GetGlue via “Thinking about a topic” via of the advertiser in the comments section with a simple “Thank You for your support of Fringe @FringeOnFox”

The reason for Fringe in the comments is for those of us that link our Twitter accounts to GetGlue. It is the breadcrumb that will let @FringeOnFox know Fringe viewers and are watching live and attribute “ad” check-ins to Fringe viewers.

The important thing about this campaign is to do it real-time or as close to airing of the show. There will be plenty of us on GetGlue that can “agree” to your check-ins and think they are “cool”. That should have an enhancing or amplifying effect.
GetGlue will do the counting of these check-ins so let’s see if we can make an impression.
