Q: I'd like to lead a discussion, how do I sign up?
A: Visit the sign up thread for the season of your choice, and respond with the title of the episode you'd like to lead.
Q: I know which episode I want to lead, when is my post due?
A: We're striving for an episode a day throughout most of the summer. Projected schedules will be posted in the signup threads in the individual season forums.
Q: What happens if I don't post in time?
A: You get to be Walter's next experiment subject....
Seriously, we know excrement occurs, and there's nothing to be done about it. If your post is late, we'll modify the schedule accordingly, just be aware that signup means a commitment to the community, and do your best.
Q: Signup means what?
A: A commitment to the MTOofE community. We understand that things happen and we don't mind, but do try to let us know in good time if your post will be delayed or cancelled, so that we can adjust or replace as necessary. Mods are always available through PM on the forums, or through DM on Twitter.
Q: What should I say in my lead post?
A: It's entirely up to you! "Leading" discussion on an episode gives you the opportunity to, well...lead. A recap is always helpful, but it can be short and sweet or as long as you like. Your personal observations are encouraged as you attempt to engage others in discourse on your chosen episode.
Q: Total forum n00b, how do I start a new thread for my episode?
A: Select your season, and then click "new topic". Under "Subject" title your thread with the title of the episode and the number. Example - "Dissection: 4x03 - Alone in the World"
Q: What about spoilers?
A: Given that one of our stated goals is to "make connections across four seasons of Fringe", spoilers are inevitable. However, for the benefit of those who may just be catching up with us, please use spoiler tags when referencing events that occur after the episode in question.
Q: What are spoiler tags?
A: At the top right of the posting page there's a little box that says "spoiler". Just highlight the text in question and then click on the little box - it'll automatically mask the text for those who don't want to read it. Those who do want to read it have only to click on the "show" link to display the text.
Q: I really, really hate this character/scenario, can I bash them?
A: Opinions are opinions, and we hope to always be able to engage in civil debate on any subject. That said, hate speech of any kind is not tolerated on this board. Intentionally hateful or incendiary comments will be deleted and may result in banning. Feel free to express your feelings, but please keep in mind the feelings of others while you do.
Q: I'm new to forums, or I don't understand some of what I've read here?
A: We're always available to answer questions. You can reach one of us at @Fringenuity on Twitter, PM one of the mods, or reach me directly at bandobuggered@gmail.com
