2011 Blue Moon Awards
For the cast and crew of Fringe

To the myriad creators of Fringe,

We made you something.

Only 'cause you made us something first, and Fringe has taught us that every relationship is reciprocal, so we'd like to give something back.

As we're sure you're aware, the Fringe fandom is something truly remarkable. Not just because we do things like this, but because of the sense of family that's grown among us over the last couple of years. It's a gorgeous and heartening thing in times full of darkness and upheaval. There's an affectionate ebullience present that's as awe-inspiring as it is difficult to articulate. Fringe has become something more than a TV show to us, more than a story about universes in peril and the people fighting to save them. It's also our story: of amazing strangers, the connections we make, and the power of ideas to draw people together. Every one of us knows that we’ve stumbled onto something rare, and we’re lucky to have found it.

All of that is because of you.

This project was impelled by the announcement of a certain set of nominations, from which your names were conspicuously absent. What began in early July as tongue-in-cheek banter became a mission; if no one else was going to recognize your superior work, we'd do it ourselves. And so we created the Blue Moon Awards: because in certain circles it'll be a blue moon before science fiction is recognized as a credible vehicle for dramatic storytelling; because the performances we watched were as breathtakingly rare as the colloquialism. But most importantly because a show like Fringe, a cast like this, and fans like these come along once in a year of blue moons – if that.

We hope you understand. We're not seeking to undermine any institutions, or thumb our noses at anyone else's accomplishments. We just have a statement to make: You blow us away week after week. We adore you. And while our awards will arrive in cardboard boxes, accompanied by a notable lack of glitz, they're directly from us to you. We hope you like them.

Sincerely,
Fringe Fans

Yuck. I've decided I hate this color scheme. I'll make it match the main site when I get a chance.
