A possible promotional idea

One big giant brain focused on promoting Fringe for Season 5

A possible promotional idea

Postby gillybee » Mon Jan 09, 2012 2:09 pm

Hi All
I'm Gillybee some of you may know me form another forum, Youtube or twitter. I was discussing this with Kelly (@fringeship) earlier. How about a simple flyer/sticker that US fringies can print-off and post through their neighbours door or sick up on the school/work notice boards. It would be a simply say watch Fox this Friday at 8pm/9pm. No mention of Fringe but maybe have the AU be vigilant logo on it. I not saying canvas your whole neighbour but maybe one or two homes near you. Basically anyone with access with a printer could take part.
So what do you guys think?

I would love to do something like that...but it's kinda hard since I live so far away. But it's still a good idea. Maybe in other public bulletin boards would be another good place. If you do post something like this on a bulletin board, take a photo and post it online for other people to see and maybe get other ideas of what they can do. :D

I like the posting a picture bit Rekka it got me thinking maybe people could take a picture of their TV set during the show and post it on Twitter or Facebook with their age and sex and we could then create our own viewing demographic. People outside the US could also take part by posting a screenshot of their PC screen (without showing the name of the streaming site they use)

The demographics is an interesting idea but as with any data collection, requires a means to do so efficiently. I'm going to give it more thought and research. Just so you know although we're really a three-person operations right now, (but really less than that since we all have day jobs LOL), we're going to do our best getting some of these ideas off the ground. And we'll be looking for *cough cough* volunteers for upcoming projects.

Just woke up, having a crazy/dumb? NotNielsen idea... people without Nielsen box could prove that they are watching live by taking a pic and sending it to @FringeOnFox immediately, to make their twitter mentions timeline explode with pictures ;).
Now I see that gillybee had a similar idea a month ago... lol.
Maybe we can skip the demographics thing and make it a fun thing for the fans like:
"watch it live, be creative to prove it and send it to Fox right away"

We only have to spread the idea - the fans will do all the work and Fox will get the "data" ;) .
What do you think?

^I had a similar post/idea as far as flyers went. This past weekend Annie was at a con (my original post was about promoting at sci fi cons and comic stores- stuff like that, almost like a "street team"), and we collaborated on a quick Fringenuity themed flyer. Instead of outwardly promoting the show, the flyer was more about awareness of the fan movement and what you can do to be a part of it. People more or less know the show is on, but they may not be aware of all of the other people online and around the world that join in on the twitter campaigns and stuff like that.
The flyer was simple-black and white, 4 on a page, easy to print cheap. I'll leave it up to Annie/the rest of Fringenuity if you want to post/distribute/do whatever with the flyer, but it's a start :)

I posted a tweet yesterday:

Fringies, do you know http://www.bookcrossing.com/howto?step=2 ? Maybe we could "release #Fringe DVDs into the wild", during summer hiatus?

Some thoughts about it:
Season 1 DVDs are cheap now in Germany, I think it's the same in the US. Fringies could donate a S1 DVD-Box and share it, by releasing it into the wild. We do not necessarily have to ID the DVDs like they do it at bookcrossing.com, but a label with a short explanation could be helpful. And we could put a flyer inside the cover.
It does not make any sense to share DVDs in Non-US Countries - perhaps international Fringies could donate to get DVDs bought and released.

What do you think, guys?
