For Joshua Jackson

Dear Josh,

There's a question that's been asked all summer. It's on website banners, posters, Twitter hashtags and even a couple of automobiles. There's a really cool video featuring hundreds of people from all over the world asking it. And the reason it's been such a burning question for so many is because you've made Peter Bishop someone we care about very much. We watched his relationship with Walter evolve from loathing and resentment into one of the most beautiful filial relationships ever to grace the screen, and it made us love them both. When Peter figured out Walter's terrible secret our hearts broke for both of them, but it gave us the opportunity to see how far he'd come in Northwest Passage. When his journey from anti-hero to hero was complete, we held hands as he climbed with dignity and courage - twice - to whatever fate awaited him at the top of the scaffolding. And when grief drove him to gamble everything to save Olivia (and incidentally, maybe the universes), we barely had time to process the sudden parallel with his father before collectively gasping in dismay when he vanished in front of our eyes.

Your portrayal of Peter is often understated, but it's always powerfully nuanced. We're fascinated by the way you're able to let us know what's going on in his head without needing any dialogue at all. His anguish at Fauxlivia's betrayal was as palpable as it was internal; many of your finest moments are those in which words are irrelevant. The car ride to Penn Station in Entrada comes to mind, as does Barrett's garden after Olivia's exit in Marionette. When he's less miserable, there's a warmth to him that's utterly irresistible and impossible to counterfeit. The story elements are provided, but the grace and charm that define Peter are all yours, and we're captivated by them. You're one of Fringe's greatest assets, thank you for everything that you do.

Please accept this small token of our appreciation and affection. To us, you are always an

Outstanding Leading Actor

With love from all of us,
Fringe Fans

P.S. While generally I think postscripts are tacky, I can't neglect to mention how much we love your geek side. The comic was very well received, and we all think you did a phenomenal job. We can't wait for the next one. Tacky is on me.
